Renita Jackson

My name is Renita Jackson, sister to Sharon Hobson (Rose of Sharon Children’s Foundation). It is my pleasure to sit on the board of a foundation that honors the person that she was.

My background is in the medical field working as a registered nurse for 13 years.  I then became a full time mom after my husband and I became foster parents and subsequently adopted two beautiful children (now adults).

I currently work for Serenity Foster Care and Adoption Inc. and am pleased to be a part of the agency that my sister Sharon co-founded.

Lydia Schmidt

Lydia served on the Rose of Sharon Children's Foundation Board since it's inception in 2009.  My friendship with Sharon started in college as cheerleaders and continued as prayer partners for 25 years.  Her commitment to see lives changed in the foster system is my inspiration to continue her legacy of love.  Sharon's calling that "One child can change a generation of people" provided hope through each lesson of life.

After receiving a BA in Physical Education, I then taught PE and coached Jr High sport teams at Pasadena Christian School.  My husband, Doug, and I were blessed with a family of three girls.  My passion to serve shows in these years of volunteer involvement as Director of Moppets with MOPS at Inland Hills Church, Resident Committee Member of Healthy Chino Hills, Moms In Prayer leader for all grades, as well as women's ministry leadership team at Chino Valley Community Church.  Outside of volunteering, I love to run, play pickleball and to be outdoors.

I'm privileged to be part of this unmatched foundation to see how it's assistance of financial resources will bring personal and spiritual growth and development to the emancipated youth of IE, SGV and beyond.  Looking forward to contributing towards community involvement while walking along side each individual who steps through our doors.

Jennifer Jones - Choctaw

Raised and educated in Washington, D.C., I relocated to California in the 1970s and worked in numerous social service organizations with the underserved, “at-risk” children and families impacted by the foster care system. My greatest professional accomplishment has been the 26 years of serving as Co-Founder and Executive Director of Serenity Infant Care Homes, Inc. Having retired in December 2016, I am blessed to be able to continue my support by serving on The Rose of Sharon Children’s Foundation. In tribute to the memory  of Sharon Hobson, Co-Founder of Serenity, God placed it on my heart to establish a foundation that would exemplify  her compassion for children and families in need and her spirituality in service. The words from one of Sharon’s prayer partner were the inspiration: “Sometimes God takes home one of our loved ones in order for something new and beautiful to blossom into greatness!” My prayer is that the Rose of Sharon Children’s Foundation “blossoms” into the greatness through His grace and direction.

Gencia M.Williams

Growing up in South Central Los Angeles with grandparents who were foster parents, our home was one filled with much fun, love and laughter that was extended to many children in need.  This experience birthed my passion to service others.  After acquiring my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Irvine, I continued my education and obtained my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology w/ Emphasis in Marriage Family Therapy from Pepperdine University.  My passion for working with children intensified after having the honor and privilege of being mentored by “Sharon” as I joined Serenity as a foster family social worker.  I have since acquired my license in the state of California as a Marriage Family Therapist and work for a large HMO.  Today I have the pleasure of providing behavioral and mental health services to children, adolescents and adults who are in need.  I find it fulfilling to be a servant of the Most high and strive to service others in hopes that it is pleasing to Him.

Leon Green

My name is Leon Green, I’m the nephew of Sharon Hobson. It’s an honor for me to have the opportunity to be on the board of the foundation that is in a position to continue to impact the world and the atmosphere that she devoted so much of her life to help build up selflessly.  Adoption has always been a very strong possibility in my mind ever since I was young, because of the passion, love and commitment that spilled from her when speaking about the lives of the children and the parents that she was assisting to connect with each other.  I have been a teacher, family photographer, coach, and assistant youth pastor over the past 15 years.  My heart has always been to work along side and help mentor the youth.  So this opportunity to help out those who are in need is near and dear to my heart and I’m thankful to work along side other individuals that also have the drive to help improve the lives of others that have unfortunately had a rough beginning to their story but we strive to make it so that years from now they are in a much better position to also give back to those from their similar beginnings.

Tori Hobson

Tori Hobson is the daughter of Sharon Hobson. Tori had the privilege of serving with her mom at a young age as she accompanied her in missions work, aboard the Mercy Ships in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Years later, Tori returned by herself to Africa, and served aboard Mercy Ships for over two years. She had the experience of staffing a hospital on land among her other duties aboard ship. Tori’s heart for service was evident to all she encountered and she especially enjoyed working with children. During her time in service, she made many new friends both on and off the ship that she remains close to today. Being a part of the Rose of Sharon Children’s Foundation fits in perfectly with Tori’s passion to assist nonprofits and to “give back”.
